I Passed the AWS CLF-C02

It’s been a while since I’ve posted; I’ve passed the Cloud Practitioner Exam!

I will say the 2 things that helped me a lot:

1 – The exam will not try to confuse you; if the question is multiple choice (4 possible answers), there is only 1 possible answer and the correct answer. The other 2 answers will be so obviously wrong, it’s comical.

2 – Connecting certain terms/ hosts to questions. We did this a lot in class.

Examples:
CloudFormation = IaC
Shield=DDoS
AWS Marketplace = third party applications

Once you make these connections, the questions really become choosing between the correct answer and the kind of / maybe answer.

Some practice tests that I’ve seen online have questions that are way too specific. The realistic questions you will see are testing if you know the most basic concepts, not so much the exact in depth features of each one of the services.

Not to mistaken that there are very specific details about pricing and term lengths of services are featured in the exam, so that must be studied.

Again, hope you all pass. I didn’t find it super difficult, but I did have to study a lot within the month of taking the course.

I think I have a sense of what this exam might be like…

Based on some taking some practice exams / questions for the AWS Cloud Practitioner via LinkedIn Learning, I’m going to make the assumption that this exam is more like an ITIL v4 rather than a Network + or Linux +.

This example seen is a very specific example of the exact functions of these services. In this case, it is very much like a Network +; in fact, this is an example of knowing which service works with the OSI model.

Side Note (Not relevant to AWS per se):

OSI Model: “Please Do Not Throw Sausage Pizza Away” – P D N T S P A
Layer 1 – Physical
Layer 2 – Data
Layer 3 – Network
Layer 4 – Transport (Usually TCP/UDP if I’m not mistaken)
Layer 5- Session
Layer 6 – Presentation
Layer 7 – Application

So I say all of that to say that knowing the theory of Network + (OSI Model) actually (kinda) helps with the question.

But MOST of the questions that I saw followed this kind of format:

“Which of the following is true about…”
“[Insert Scenario] Which Cloud service would you use for [Scenario]…”
“Which feature does [Insert Function]…”
“Which of the following is NOT part of [Insert Service]”

I remember for the ITIL v4, I had to memorize very specific details. Everything from knowing the difference from a user and a customer. Knowing the difference between products vs services, all the details of continuous improvement, etc.

For me, It was memorization, but for those who are into Service Delivery / Agile / Scrum, they deal with these details on a daily basis.

That exam needed to be memorized vs the CompTIA A+; the A+ I needed to know how to handle certain scenarios. I had to be prepared to re-read questions many times to see what was the best method of troubleshooting, etc.

This AWS exam doesn’t seem to be too much that. At least based on practice questions….
Since it is multiple choice questions, I have a feeling it will be that way.
